Hery (Eddie) Acosta – Youth Advocate, Program Leader, Author.
Hery “Eddie” Acosta is a dedicated youth advocate, author, and survivor of child abuse and neglect who has turned his life story into a mission to uplift and empower young people. With over 13 years of experience working in the Hillsboro and St. Helens School Districts, Eddie has supported children with special needs in both behavioral and medically fragile programs, always bringing compassion, resilience, and understanding to the work.
Eddie currently serves as the Youth Program Coordinator for the City of Hillsboro, where he develops and leads programs designed to support and inspire local youth. His flagship program, Ohana Teen Night, is held every Friday from 6–9 PM at the Hidden Creek Community Center and currently serves over 300 registered participants. Ohana Teen Night provides teens with a safe, welcoming environment where they can build community, find support, and simply be themselves.
In addition to his hands-on work with youth, Eddie is the author of Eddie in the Rough – Becoming a Diamond, an autobiography that shares his journey from hardship to healing. His story is a testament to resilience and the power of mentorship and community in overcoming trauma.
